The Fervent Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was founded by Mother Marykutty FDSHJ in 1981 at Punnavely in the Arch diocese of Changanacherry Kerala South India under the Patronage and able guidence of His Eminence Cardinal Antony Padiyara, the then Arch Bishop of Changanacherry, Mother Marykutty was a zealous Salessian Missionary in the North India for about 25 years prior accepting the ‘‘call within the call’’ She was given special Charism by our Lord to spread the devotion to His Most Sacred Heart through Family Apostolate, Parish Apostolate and Perpetual Adortation.
The Motto: ‘AD MAJOREM DEI GLORIAM’.
Aim: ‘Behold this Heart that has loved men so much and is little loved in return.’
The primary aim of the Institute of the FDSHJ shall be to QUENCH the burning thirst of the Heart of Jesus, the burning thirst of God, to have His TENDER, PATERNAL and INFINITE LOVE for Mankind RECIPROCATED, in other words to bring this ATHEISTIC and MATERIALISTIC world, back to God by practicing true and practical devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in their life of Consecration and by propagating this devotion through the various Apostolate which Institute shall taken up.
Identity: Every Religious order or Congregation is founded to bear witness to Christ, yet through its specific Charism, the Institute of the FDSHJ is founded precisely and purposely to bear witness to Christ and to His teachings, by living the Sermon on the Mount, since it is best means to practice and propagate true and practical devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Institute of the FDSHJ will be a Religious Congregation in the Church belonging to the Syro-Malabar Rite, but will work for the spread of the Kingdom of Christ, in ANY PART OF THE WORLD under ANY RITE in order to live the Missionary nature of the Institute and thus to follow the special CALL of the Founder, to work with the UNIVERSAL DIMENTION.
The Charism is being actualised also through various other activities life Home for the aged, homes for the mentally and physically challenged and other social and charitable activities. We have 3 old age homes and we are working in other Institutions like Psychiatry and Rehabilitation centres etc.
Now we have 154 Sisters in 39 communities working in rural areas of various States of India, especially Assam, Maharashtra, Chathisghat, Andhra, Thamil Nadu, Germany and Kerala .
